Abstract

The partners challenges stemmed from a lack of knowledge and understanding of the importance of protecting communal intellectual property through the registration of Geographical Indications for industrial products or natural resources, as stipulated in Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications. The purpose of this community service program is to provide partners with knowledge and understanding of the importance of protecting communal intellectual property through the registration of Geographical Indications for industrial products or natural resources, as stipulated in Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications. The series of activities implemented as part of this community service program were conducted through face-to-face meetings in the hall of Limbungan Baru Village, Rumbai District, gathering community representatives from each of the 16 neighborhood associations (RUK) as the target groups. The results of this community service activity are expected to significantly and maximally improve awareness of the importance of protecting communal intellectual property through the registration of Geographical Indications for industrial products or natural resources, as stipulated in Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications. The conclusion of this community service activity is that the target audience faces a problem: a lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting communal intellectual property through the registration of Geographical Indications for industrial products or natural resources, as stipulated in Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications, within a region or village. It is recommended that similar activities be carried out continuously with different target audiences in each sub-district, village office, and district in Riau Province.
